Default Adding text to an existing word document

I have a random fault in Word 2003. When I try to add new text to an existing
document although the cursor is in place no text is added when I press the
keys . The only way I can solve this is to close the documant and restart my
lap top. What is causing this problem and how do I solve it?
Thanks

Make sure they are not "Read Only" files! Right click on the icon and then
"Properties" where you can check if the said box is ticked. B Brush

You should be able to enter text in a read only file - what you cannot do
with such files is save them with the same name!
My guess is that the document does not have focus - perhaps because of the
Norton AV Office plug-in, which should be turned off.
