Default A box with a shadow, how do I do it?

I'm trying to make a check box with a shadow. The only box I can find is
under Insert, symbol. I'm a former Word Perfect user and could do this with
Ctrl-W and there was a box with a shadow.

You can assign the Ctrl+W shortcut to the symbol for a box with a shadow,
but basically it *is* a symbol.
