Is it possible to get additional colors for highlighting in Word? I find in

Hi gailcu,

Sorry, but you will have to work with the fifteen highlight colors that
Microsoft provides. You cannot add your own (or delete any predefined).

Good luck,

Create a character style with a lighter shading colour and apply that
instead.

Thanks for your help. However, when I tried it, it gave me the option of
choosing
font colors but not highlighting colors. Could you explain further? Thanks.

Use shading instead. Select the text you want to shade, go the Format |
Borders and Shading, select the Shading tab, make sure "Apply to" is set to
"Text," and select the desired shading.

As Graham has suggested, if you define a character style with the desired
shading, it will be easier to apply. Alternatively, if you display the
Tables and Borders toolbar, the Shading Color button will apply the most
recently selected shading color.
