When I try to open a Wood 2003 doc, it try's to open in note pad. how do I

In Windows Explorer, right click on a .doc file name and choose Open with
and select Word.

You need to associate ".doc" with Word. You can do this either through
Windows Explorer: go to Tools Folder Options FileTypes; or Start Run
and enter: winword.exe /r

All my Documents saved in word have automatically changed to word notepad. I
did what Chuck suggsted but when I choose 'open with' the only option is
'wordpad', word is not there. What do I do?
