Problem printing envelopes from word
When using the envelope printing function of Word, I am unable to get the
proper orientation. It prints the address sideways. I have a Brother HL1440 laser printer which has 4 different orientations in the printer setup and there are 4 in word. I've tried all combinations. There aren't any problems with other programs. MS-Publisher prints correctly. Brother doesn't have any tech support so I'm hoping the problem is in word. I might mention that Word also will print only one copy no matter how many copies I choose. MS-Publisher will print 50 or 100 copies with no problem. I've downloaded and installed the latest Brother drivers. Before I installed XP, I was running Win 2000 and the printer worked ok. Is it Word, XP or the printer? Bob |

Hi Bob,
There's a similar problem with some Epson printer drivers, and Graham Mayor has a page with a couple of solutions: http://www.gmayor.com/epson_envelope_orientation.htm -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org On Thu, 06 Jan 2005 03:59:46 GMT, "rck" wrote: When using the envelope printing function of Word, I am unable to get the proper orientation. I edited the Registry and entered 3 for EnvFeed. It had been set to 4. This
turned it 180 degrees. I downloaded what is supposed to be the latest HL-1440 driver and installed it. That changed the Registry entry to 0 and there was no change in printing from the 3 that I had entered. I'll try 0 through 9 and see what happens. I backed up the Registry and set a new restore point before starting this so a little trial and error won't hurt anything. I'm thinking of simply getting another printer. Do you have the link to MS supported hardware? Bob "Jay Freedman" wrote in message ... Hi Bob,
Start at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/. I don't know that it's going to help, though, since the HL-1440 is on the list. :-( -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org rck wrote: I edited the Registry and entered 3 for EnvFeed.
