Default Content types and content controls

I am trying to define a content type in WSS with a Word document provisioned
as template packaged as a feature. This works fine. However, I have trouble
getting Content Controls in the Word document to attach to the SharePoint
columns. It would seem that the namespace of the internal nodes in the
document xml is hard coded to the GUID of the document library instance.
Obviously, I must be doing something wrong. is it all possible to achieve
wat I am trying to? (Feature-Content Type-Document Template-Content
Controls)
