Default I want to add an horizontal line over a text without deleting it

Please Help:
I just want to add an horizontal line over an existing text without deleting
the existing text!

Place your insertion pointer at the left of the existing text, then type
three dashes (---) and hit enter. Double line maybe, type three equal signs
(===) and hit enter.

Hi Rona,

Chuck's suggestion will create a paragraph border all the way across
the page. If what you had in mind is more like underlining some text
but above instead of below, see

Default I want to add an horizontal line over a text without deleting it

Possibly Chuck or Jay has guessed right, but I think your mention of not
deleting means you want to strike through the text. Select the text and use
Format | Font | Strikethrough. If you do this often, you can add a
Strikethrough button to your Formatting toolbar through Tools | Customize.
