Default Can I place a hyperlink in a word doc to an independent PDF?

I'd like to post an instructional PDF that will undergo revision several
times a year to our client website.
The instructional PDF is an excerpt from a larger, private Word document
that won't be seen by clients. Is is possible to place a link in the larger
private document that alerts the writer that the instructional PDF posted out
on the website may need revision as well?
