Default Turning off e-mail view

When I open a Word document the e-mail view shows. I cannot turn this
feature off under the view tab. Any suggestions. Thank you

Jasper...
Is not there a button on the standard toolbar which toggles between e-mail
and normal. I think it is the 5th from the left.

Default Turning off e-mail view

From your limited description you could be talking about one of two things -
the Reading Layout (tools options general uncheck 'Allow starting in
reading layout') or the e-mail toolbar which is a toggle setting (File
Send to Mail Recipient.)
