Default Split Words At End Of Each Sentence In Word

I received a WORD document that splits words at the end of each sentence. No
hyphenation. It's almost as though the entire document is using
word-wrapping but is not recognizing carriage return characters.

How do I correct this?

This indicates that Word is treating the text as though it were arbitrary
symbols rather than words (this is the way it handles "symbol" fonts).
Although this can indicate a damaged font, it is usually more indicative of
a corrupt document. If changing the font doesn't help, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

Apparently, either the document was corrupted, or WORD was indeed treating
the text as though it was symbols. I copied the information into a new WORD
document and the problem disappeared.....all formatting is as it should be.

Thanks!

To clarify, the corruption is what causes Word to treat the text as though
it were symbols.
