Cross Reference turns to 0 (zero)
Not always but quite often, when I get into a document with cross references
some of them turn to 0. I will reinsert them, get out of the document and back in and some of them have changed back to zero. |

Cross Reference turns to 0 (zero)
Try to ensure that you are not placing cross-references WITHIN the numbering
or table of contents fields. Make sure you place the cross-reference a few characters away from any fields or the beginning of a paragraph. If you are using Tracked Changes with bullets or numbering, ... Well, "don't". The combination breaks cross-references every time. Either set bookmarks and cross-reference them, or use Compare Documents instead of Tracked Changes. Or get used to having to rebuild your cross references every now and again! Otherwise, when you re-open the document and the fields recalculate, the cross-reference target is deleted.
