Default word under xp shows a black screen using print preview with w98

I have a windows 98 machine using office xp's word (I think that would make
it Word 2003) only. When I go into print preview, the screen displays all
black.... I swapped out the video card three times, changed the monitor
twice, reinstalled w98 and Word but nothing helped... Any help would be
appreciated...
Thanks,
Paz

I am not sure Word 2003 is compatible with Windows 98? However to establish
which Word version you have, check Word Help About Microsoft Office Word
and the vesrsion is detailed at the top of the ensuing dialog.

If it is a compatible version Word 97 or 2000 then the problem is probably
related to the display resolution rather than the display driver per se.
Increase the colour density of the display.

Hi Graham, I checked the display resolution this morning and the glider would
not allow me to go any more to the right than where it was... Is there any
other way to increase the color density of the display??
The funny thing is that this machine was working fine two weeks ago but just
all of a sudden decided to stop... I think your idea about increasing the
color density should rectify the issue as when this machine is in IE looking
at any site, the screen looks weird , blurry , bad color representation...
Thanks again for your help..
Barry
