Default Transition from Outline to Normal View

I created a document in Outline view using the proper levels and Headings
styles. When I switch to the Normal view all of the text has been indented to
the right so the entire document is only one space wide so everything just
runs down one long column. To remedy this I place my cursor in the top line
and keep clicking "Outdent" until everything migrates back where it belongs.
Even though I save the document this way, the next time I work in Outline
view then switch to Normal view the same thing has happened.
It seems when I send such a document the recipient ends up reading it in
Normal view. I'm afraid one day they'll get it and wonder why they can't see
the text.
What's going on?

Check your margin settings in Page Setup.

Nope! Doesn't make a difference. In Page Setup I have margins set to 1 inch
all the way around. I checked this in both the Outline and Normal View.

If I re-save the document after correcting the problem, then quit out of the
document, then open it again, it reverts back to the same problem.
