Default Table in footer makes margin move

When I insert a table into the Word footer why does it make the right margin
go crazy moving back and forth? I have Windows XP and Word 2003 (have not
updated my computer with the patch 2 because I was told it was unstable).

Please let me know if you can help.

This is usually because Word is having trouble making things fit - it
sometimes just seems unable to make up its mind. Do you have, perhaps, a
page number in a frame also in the footer?

Try making the table slightly narrower - or otherwise moving objects in the
footer around a little to find a stable arrangement. A very small adjustment
is probably all that's needed.

And make sure the table isn't set to AutoResize unless you really want it
to.
