Default Why are my folders taking so long to open in Word?

I'm working on an AMD 64 Athlon with a gigabyte of RAM, yet Word 2003 is
taking 7 minutes to open folders. I remember this being a problem with
journaling files in the previous version of Word but I haven't yet found a
way to resolve this.

Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?
Thanks.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Thank you so much!!!! That's resolved it for me. It was simply that I had
mapped a network drive to another computer on my network, and that computer
had been switched off.

I am so grateful.
