how to remove highlighting following cursor as try to edit text?
I've pressed something that has set an automatic selection in place: when I
try to edit my exisiting text, everything up to and including the bit I want to edit gets highlighted! Help me remove this please! |

You accidentally pressed F8, the Extend Selection key. Press Escape (or
