You can use Edit | Replace.
Find: OldName
Replace with: NewName

I followed your instructions and yes it changed the name of Ted to Lloyd ,
however it also changed every word that ended with ted. How do I stop it from
doing this. I only want a name change.

Check the boxes for "Match case" and "Whole words only."

Thank you both for great answers. It saved me a great deal of time to be able
to change names of my charactors so easily. Many, many thanks.

I did the same thing but Word capitalized the new name. Why did this take
place?

Did you want the name capitalized? Was the name you were replacing
capitalized? Did you type the name into the "Replace with" box capitalized?
I'm not sure I understand your question. Give us more detail on what result
you were expecting (what word you were trying to replace with what other
word) and what result you got instead.
