Word 2007 - Only Want to Show Comments in Balloons
In Word 2007 is there a way to only show comments in the baIlons, NOT also
formatting ? I want to see my comemnts in balloons but having all of the formatting changes also displayed in balloons gets very messy and distracting. |

Under the big Track Changes icon on the Review tab there's a down-
arrow. Click that and you'll get the place to set the options. In there you choose how each different thing gets displayed. You can also tell it not to track formatting changes there, or you can turn off the display of formatting changes with the "Show Markup" dropdown to the right of the big buttons. (Also you shouldn't track "Moves," since it only does that for moves of sentences or bigger, that have no tracked changes in them, and there's no way to reject a tracked move change.) Thank you Peter - unchecking "Formatting" in the dropdown under Show Markup
stops the Formatting Balloons from appearing, seems obvious now ....... "Peter T. Daniels" wrote: Under the big Track Changes icon on the Review tab there's a down- arrow. That stops it from tracking formatting entirely, as opposed to showing
you the registered formatting changes. There's usually no reason to track formatting, but I can think of some cases where there would be. It would be nice if you could track just character attributes, say, or just the application of paragraph styles, but it's an all-or-none package. The selections you make in the Track Changes dialog determine what is
tracked, so you don't necessarily want/need to turn off tracking of formatting. Instead, click the arrow beside Show Markup and deselect Formatting. Formatting will still be tracked, but it will not be displayed until you tell it to be. -- Suzanne S.
