Default Word or Excel 2007-Insert scan selection is missing.

Word or Excel 2007-Insert scan selection is missing. In office 2003 there was
a selection to choose from camera or scanner directly from the word pull down
menu.
Now there are 20+ steps to deal with other programs and convert to this or
that.
What happen to 2007...............or educate me. Show me simple insert from
a HP fax scanner through Word or Excel 2007.
