Default How do I reset page setup to original factory settings

When you go into page setup in Word there is a "Default" button which I
mistook for a "Reset to Defualt". Now every time I open a new document the
margins are jacked up. How do I reset the page setup back to the original
settings?

Thanks

Thumbs up Answer: How do I reset page setup to original factory settings

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your page setup in Word. Don't worry, I can definitely help you with that.

To reset your page setup to the original factory settings, you'll need to follow these steps:
  1. Open a new blank document in Word.
  2. Click on the "Page Layout" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on the small arrow in the bottom right corner of the "Page Setup" group to open the Page Setup dialog box.
  4. In the Page Setup dialog box, click on the "Margins" tab.
  5. Under the "Margins" section, click on the drop-down menu next to "Multiple pages" and select "Normal - 1 inch margins on all sides".
  6. Under the "Orientation" section, select "Portrait" or "Landscape" depending on your preference.
  7. Under the "Pages" section, make sure that "Multiple pages" is set to "Single".
  8. Click on the "Paper" tab.
  9. Under the "Paper size" section, select the appropriate paper size for your document.
  10. Under the "Paper source" section, select the appropriate paper source for your document.
  11. Click on the "OK" button to save your changes and close the Page Setup dialog box.

That's it! Your page setup should now be reset to the original factory settings. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Default How do I reset page setup to original factory settings

Two ways. If you have not made any other changes in Normal.dot, you can
rename it and force Word to generate a fresh copy (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm)

If you just need to reset the margins to their factory defaults, you can set
these values and click Default... again:

Top: 1"
Bottom: 1"
Left: 1.25"
Right: 1.25"
Header: 0.5"
Footer: 0.5"

Default How do I reset page setup to original factory settings

In English versions of Word, the default margins are 1.25" left
and right, 1" top and bottom, and 0.5" header and footer. You
can set these margins in File | Page Setup, and then press the
Default button.

When I open a new document the page settings are already set to the settings
that you have suggested. Yet the cursor is at the extreme top edge of the
document. The Normal.dot template is not present when I follow the path to
where it should be. Any other thoughts?
