My Microsoft Word (Office 2003 Pro) saves documents as Wordpad?
When I save a document in Word, it creates a Wordpad document. Formatting
appears lost. |

They're not really WordPad documents; they just have the wrong icon. See

I am having the same problem. I have tried the link you have posted and still
my word docs are displaying the notepad icon. When I doube click them word opens up normaly. It shouldn't bother me because It dosen't affect the way it works at all. I think it's a problem in the regedit. I also think it is to do with when I had an open source office programme on my PC. I have even tried downloading the 2007 beta office but still the icons are notepad. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: They're not really WordPad documents; they just have the wrong icon. My Microsoft Word (Office 2003 Pro) saves documents as Wordpad
As a follow up to that I just tried smething else. I created a word file by
doing the following. Right Click, new, Microsoft Office Word Document. On doing that a new file appeared with the "w" word icon. The file name however was .docx. I tried changing the file name of one of the icons with the .doc and notepad icon to .docx and it changed to a word icon. What does this mean? will the docx files work on other PCs and why doesn't my computer recognise the default .doc file name? Thankyou "Joe" wrote: I am having the same problem.
