Default Insert Menu does not have Insert

I type am em-dash using the keyboard. Now, when I go to the Insert Menu,
Symbols is not there. I restarted the computer and Symbols is still not on
the Insert Menu. What can i do?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

restored the Insert button.

Thanks, Jay. Suzanne sent gave me that link in her response, also. I followed
its instructions and got my Insert button back.
