Table of contents - Title on a seperate page
Hi,
I have a problem with my TOC. It is all up to date with the correct syles applied to each heading/sub-heading/sub-sub-heading but the table of contents is not showing as I would like! The TOC is long enough to span across 3 pages, but the Table of Contents 'title' is appearing on page 1, with nothing underneath it. The actual contents then starts on page 2 and continues on to 3 and 4!! E.g ____________ Title | blank | blank | blank | blank | _________p1 | ____________ start of cont's | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | _________p2 | ____________ more conts | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | _________p3| I have looked and can see no breaks (page or section) and have also tried changing the style of the TOC so that the spacing in between each line is less. No joy! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance G |

It would appear to be something with the paragraph formatting option "Keep
with next". I turned this on and it seemed to fix the problem. Should I only allow it for the TBL Contents Heading style so it doesn't mess up the rest of my (250+) page document!?! Thanks G "guy.pembroke" wrote: Hi, I have a problem with my TOC. What happens if you format the paragraph containing your Title to be "keep

Thanks for your input Charles. I did actually find that and have posted a
comment before yours saying that 'keep with next' did solve the problem. Thanks again though ) "Charles Kenyon" wrote: What happens if you format the paragraph containing your Title to be "keep with next?" -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome! Table of contents - Title on a seperate page
The issue is with your TOC styles, which are probably all set to KWN.
Instead, format just TOC 1 or TOC 1 and TOC 2 to this style; leave lower-level styles alone so that you can have a break between them. The TOC heading style should also be set to KWN, but doing that alone doesn't really solve the underlying problem, just hides it. -- Suzanne S.
