How do I retrieve a previously stored document after info changed
yes I am one of those idiots who has been working on a uni assignment, saved
the document, but then used that same document (due to format) for a new assignment and pressed "save" instead of "save as". I tried "versions" but this doesnt indicate a previous document....ARRRRGGGHHH....is there any way i can retrieve my previously stored documentation???????? |

Not unless you've (a) enabled "Always create backup copy"
(ToolsOptions, Save tab) and (b) only saved the file once. Since the backup (a *.wbk file) is actually a copy of the file "one save operation back", you can retrieve it if these conditions are true. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Monique" wrote in message ... yes I am one of those idiots who has been working on a uni assignment, saved the document, but then used that same document (due to format) for a new assignment and pressed "save" instead of "save as". Hopefully, you can recreate your text without without having to do too much extra work. For future reference, you may want to use FileSave As to create a template based on an example document, for easy re-use of formatting. For more, see: Creating a Template - The Basics (Part I) http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...platePart1.htm Creating a Template (Part II) http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...platePart2.htm Tips for understanding Microsoft Word styles http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styl...sOnStyles.html thanks for responding You are welcome. Not that I had any good news for you... :-( (bedankt?) German? No, actually Swedish is my native language. I did learn some German in school, but I didn't learn enough to have any practical use for it. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP |
