Default Currupt word attachments

When I send Word documents they come out corrupt. At various times it's
worked depending on what windows updates I've installed. didn't work
initially, then service pack 1 cured it a bit (file wasn't corrupt, but email
had strange version of doc as plain text) service pack 2 was fine but the
update to that a week ago renewed the problem. Any suggestions for a solid
cure? I'd rather find a cure than just zipping the docs everytime.

I'm running xp and ofice 2003 academic version.

thanks,
Pete

Zipping will not only fix this, but produces a much smaller file size for
the benefit of those using dial-up. Corruption in e-mailed documents is
quite common.
