Default Moving one row's column lines without affecting the next one

I'm creating a form, I'm dutifully using tables to do so. Sometimes I have
two rows in my form/table with identical columns--but I want to adjust one of
the columns in one of the rows because it isn't wide enough to fit the words
I need to put in it. So, I drag on the right-side column to expand the width.
It does this fine, but of course it dutifully drags along the column on the
other row as well, which I wanted to stay put.

Anyway to drag a column line independently of the column lines in the
adjacent table-cells?

Thanks.

Select the row that contains the cells whose width you want to adjust, then
hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys while you drag the cell boundary that you want
to adjust.

Hope this helps.
