I have a template for letters and want the current date to appear
automatically. It used to work just fine but i have redesigned the letter
format and now the date does not update. It shows as the historical date on
which i saved the template. I inserted the date from the insert, date/time
option and selected update automatically - but it doesnt update and is very
frustrating! any ideas welcome

Use a CREATEDATE field in the template. Then, whenever a new document is
created from the template, that document will have the date upon which it is
created.
