Is there a way I can have the user go to a bookmare in the header upon
opening a template?

First of all, may we ask why? There may be a better way to approach the
task.

Actually, I'm trying to make a document, created by someone else. easier for
my teachers to use. The district wants it in that format and I feel as though
I've been in a wrestling match! The Teacher info, goals etc are in the
header as the document is 6 pages long and that information needs to be on
every page. There are different tables on each page that teachers need to
populate.I've used AutoTextLists for those (I thought about forms, but the
size limitation of the fields prohibited that)

These forms need to be turned into the district and they want every school's
forms to look alike. I have added Hidden Text Hyperlinks, directions, etc.
so that my teachers have some direction when completing it, but the printed
version will be what the district wants.

Defnitely not the way I like to work.

Any direction you could give me would be very much appreciated.

If the information that's needed in the header appears anywhere on the
(first) page, you can use a StyleRef field to put it in the header. See
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm.

If that doesn't work for you, set your bookmark in the header and then
record a macro of opening the header pane and going to the bookmark. Save
the macro as AutoNew, and it will run whenever anyone creates a document
based on the template. Recorded macros usually have a lot of extra "stuff"
that can be deleted, and sometimes they don't work properly (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/...rdedMacro.htm), but if it
works for you, it's good enough.
