Word 2007: Return/GoBack after hyperlink in same doc.
I have a huge document I originally developed in Word 2000. It has a ton of
hyperlinks to other locations in the same document. In Word 2000, after I clicked a hyperlink, I could click a BACK arrow and return to the hyperlink. I have now upgraded to Word 2007. The hyperlinks work great going forward, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to go back to the original point in the document. I have searched the help file but can't seem to find the solution. Does anybody know how to return or go BACK in Work 2007 to the original point after a hyperlink jump? Thanks. |

Shift+F5 should work, as should Alt+Back.

Word 2007: Return/GoBack after hyperlink in same doc.
Herb,
Thanks for your response. The file is used by a couple of other folks who are not especially computer savvy. In prior versions of Word, there was a BACK arrow icon. After clicking a hyperlink, one could simply click that BACK arrow icon and return to the starting point. It was great for users who have no desire to learn keyboard shortcuts. (If God didn't want us to use a mouse he wouldn't have created them!) I have looked all through the "ribbon" and cannot find anything similar. I fear Microsoft has removed this valuable tool. Again, thanks. tdsutter "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote: Shift+F5 should work, as should Alt+Back. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "tdsutter" wrote in message ... Have you thought of adding the Back button to your QAT?

Hmmm... well, I only see the Back and Forward buttons on the Web toolbar.
So, they're not going to be there all the time, in any case, in Word 2003. However, in Word 2007, you can make them show up all the time for that document. You can add the Back and Forward buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar for that document. Open the document, then right-click the QAT and choose Customize QAT. Set Choose command from to All Commands. Set Customize QAT to "For {current document name}". Click in the left list and tap the B key and find the Back command. Click Add. Click in the left list, and tap the G key to move to the bottom of the F commands, look up about 10 commands and click on the Forward command. Click Add. Now, when the other folks open that document, the Back and Forward commands will be at the ready on the Quick Access Toolbar. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "tdsutter" wrote in message ... Word 2007: Return/GoBack after hyperlink in same doc.
Herb,
Thanks. And I have added the BACK button to the QAT. It's just that my QAT is getting pretty full. It just seems silly to me that Microsoft won't allow users to set the ribbon up the way the user wants it set up instead of the way somebody in Redmond thinks it should be set up. There really should be more flexibility (much more) regarding the ribbon. Still, thanks for the suggestion. Thomas D.
