Default MS Word 2003 - Going back a tab

I am trying to use numbering and it used to be that to go back one tab stop
you would do a Shift-Tab but now that doesn't work. What is the new command
to go back one tab stop?

You need to check the box for "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and
backspaces" on the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect
Options.
