Default Create New document w/ right click in Word 2007

Hello all,

When I create a new document with word 2007 by right clicking on the folder
I want the document to be in and going to file new microsoft office word
document it will create the file just fine but it will always give me the
font calibri size 11 with a 1.15 line spacing. I need it to give me arial
12pt 2line spacing for school.

I applied the usual method to change the default font of clicking on the
arrow on the fonts section of the home tab and selecting arial and 12pt then
clicking default and saying yes. I then closed out of the document and
clicked yes to save the blank document. If I open that same document its
still arial 12pt but if i make a new document the exact same way it goes back
to calibri 11pt.

Now, if I click start create new office document general document then
the arial 12pt font is the default. Its only when I try to make a document
with the right click option.

Should I attempt to uninstall and remove all versions of office then
reinstall? This is really frustrating and I have 2 homework assignments to
do for tomorrow so I can get 2 of my last 4 classes for my bachelors degree
done and I have no time to keep telling office to use arial font when ive
told it several times what to use for a default font. Are there any known
solutions to this yet?

Just a guess, but when you create a new doc in Word the app is aware of the
new settings. Creating a new one in an Explorer window or on the Desktop
only involves Windows, not the app. Have you tried a log out/in or restart
to get the Registry updated? It *may* make a difference - please post back
either way.

Default Create New document w/ right click in Word 2007

I am having the same problem, perhaps I can describe it better.

I have changed the "normal" template, changed the default font and
some other settings.

When I start a new document by opening word and then going to "new
document" it is started with the normal template I created. However,
when I start a new document by using the context menu in Explorer
(right-click in a folder, click "New", click "Microsoft Word
Document") the document is created using the original "normal"
template that came with Word 2007, and even if I try to click on
"normal" it stays the same. I also tried modifying that template,
thinking maybe it was opening a different one, and then saving it, and
had the same problems.

I have not yet used Word 2007, but I wonder is when creating a document in
this manner it does so as though Word was in its safe mode, ie by-passing
personal settings and using the application defaults? If this is the case,
no amount of re-installation will fix it.

All depends on how 2007 applies its personalisations when opened normally.

It never did this in word 2000, XP, or 2003 though. Never had a problem with
it that I recall starting up with a different font. I can reinstall 2003 and
see if does the same thing but back then the default font was arial 12pt so I
didnt need to change it.

Word 2007 is a complete rethink. You may need to match your thinking about
the way you create documents.

It is probably not broken, merely different. If you don't like or cannot
adapt to its differences then it is not compulsory to use it.

If you have a problem with Microsoft take it up with them. No-one here works
for or speaks for Microsoft.

Default Create New document w/ right click in Word 2007

Ive tried dealing with microsoft in the past when my nice new shiny SLI
computer had 50-60% cpu usage constantly aftter a clean install but not in
safe mode. It took about 3 months of emails back and forth for them to tell
me it wasnt Windows' fault it was the motherboard manufacterer. Plus they
only let you bring up 2 issues the you have to pay $99.00 so I dont want to
chance them counting this as my second issue. Just incase I do run into a
real problem later with their shiny new OS that they were nice enough to give
me for free.

done and I have no time to keep telling office to use arial font
when ive told it several times what to use for a default font.
Are there any known solutions to this yet?

Default Create New document w/ right click in Word 2007

Did you ever get this figured out? Because, I'm having the same problem and
could use some guidance.

yes exactly. Do you remember it doing that in office XP or 2003 because I
dont.

Check out this link:

It addresses the font issue directly.

It is probably not broken, merely different. If you don't like or cannot
adapt to its differences then it is not compulsory to use it.

If you have a problem with Microsoft take it up with them. No-one here works
for or speaks for Microsoft.

Um no sorry... Microshaft is going to have to fix their broken

This issue wasnt present in word 2000 I just checked on one of the
older office computers.

Word 2007 is a complete rethink. You may need to match your thinking
about the way you create documents.

It never did this in word 2000, XP, or 2003 though. Never had a
problem with it that I recall starting up with a different font. I
can reinstall 2003 and see if does the same thing but back then the
default font was arial 12pt so I didnt need to change it.

I have not yet used Word 2007, but I wonder is when creating a
document in this manner it does so as though Word was in its safe
mode, ie by-passing personal settings and using the application
defaults? If this is the case, no amount of re-installation will
fix it.

All depends on how 2007 applies its personalisations when opened
normally. --

Ok uninstalled office and reinstalled problem is still there. Im
not in the position to format but i dont think that would do any
good at this point.

Just a guess, but when you create a new doc in Word the app is
aware of the new settings. Creating a new one in an Explorer
window or on the Desktop only involves Windows, not the app. Have
you tried a log out/in or restart to get the Registry updated? It
*may* make a difference - please post back either way.

Hello all,

When I create a new document with word 2007 by right clicking on
the folder
I want the document to be in and going to file new microsoft
office word
document it will create the file just fine but it will always
give me the font calibri size 11 with a 1.15 line spacing. I
need it to give me arial 12pt 2line spacing for school.

I applied the usual method to change the default font of
clicking on the arrow on the fonts section of the home tab and
selecting arial and 12pt then
clicking default and saying yes. I then closed out of the
document and clicked yes to save the blank document. If I open
that same document its still arial 12pt but if i make a new
document the exact same way it goes back
to calibri 11pt.

Now, if I click start create new office document general
document then
the arial 12pt font is the default. Its only when I try to
make a document
with the right click option.

Should I attempt to uninstall and remove all versions of office
then reinstall? This is really frustrating and I have 2
homework assignments to
do for tomorrow so I can get 2 of my last 4 classes for my
bachelors degree
done and I have no time to keep telling office to use arial font
when ive told it several times what to use for a default font.
Are there any known solutions to this yet?
