Font Problems
I am trying to open a word document using Word 2003 and I created the
document in Word 2000. When I open it, it is using the Symbol font. When I try and change it to something else, all I get is blocks. How can I fix the problem. |

My guess is that when you created the document in Word 2000, you chose a
weird font that is not available in Word 2003, so Word 2003 is substituting the Symbol font instead. When you try to change to a different font, you get the effect described in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290978 "WD2002: Symbol Characters Are Changed to Box Characters". The easiest solution is to install the font you originally used when you created the document in Word 2000.
