On the Insert | Date and Time dialogue box, uncheck Update automatically.

Unfortunately, it is not the insertion of the new date that is the problem.
It was your insertion of date fields, period. You used a DATE field which is automatically today's date, whatever today is. It updates. Many things can trigger such updating. You need to simply type in the date or create a macro that actually inserts the date as text. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
