Hyperlinks in 2 Word (2003) docs
Hyperlinks in both docs work well, but files do not close after link followed
back to originating doc (table of contents). Is there a way to have the secondary files close automatically when link followed back to table of contents? I have a table of contents hyperlinked to several individual policies in a manual. The link goes from the table of contents to a particular policy, then the return link goes back to the table of contents, but the files with the return link stay open. I would like for them to automatically close after being read. Is this possible? -- Lindy in Ontario, Canada |

Hi ?B?TGluZHk=?=,

I would like for them to automatically close after being read. Is this possible? Not using only hyperlinks, no. If you were to embed the links in MacroButton fields, then write a macro to take care of things, that could work. Hyperlinks in 2 Word (2003) docs
Hi Lindy,
I'm not sure how to do macrobutton fields, but i'm willing to try. Thanks. -- To embed a Hyperlink field in a macro button field, select the Hyperlink field then press Ctrl+F9. This will place a pair of { field brackets } around the hyperlink. Just to the right of the opening bracket { type: MacroButton NameOfTheMacro You then need to create the macro. On word.mvps.org you'll find an article that describes the code to use to follow a hyperlink in a macro button field: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfms/HLinksInForms.htm Create this macro in the document (or in the template shared by all the documents) and test. (Be sure to read the entire article!) Once you have this working to your satisfaction, add the line to close the current document at the end (just before the line End Sub): ActiveDocument.Close Hyperlinks in both docs work well, but files do not close after link followed back to originating doc (table of contents).
