Which trig symbols?

Which version of Word? Word2007 comes with Cambria Math, which
includes many of the characters in the various Unicode ranges of
mathematical symbols. Earlier versions probably include fonts that
also have many mathematical symbols.

Go to Insert Symbol and choose likely-looking names of Unicode ranges
from the dropdown at the upper right.

Hi,

In trigonometry, angles are generally represented by lowercase Greek
letters. All the Greek letters are available in the Symbol dialog box. To
open the Symbol dialog box in Word 2007, in the Symbols group on the Insert
tab of the Ribbon, click Symbol, and then click More Symbols. In earlier
versions of Word, on the Insert menu, click Symbol. After the Symbol dialog
box opens, you can find the lowercase Greek letters beginning at Unicode
(hexadecimal) 03B1. You can insert any character from the Symbol dialog box,
or you can type its Unicode number and press Alt+X (Alt together with x). For
example, if you type 3b1 and then press Alt+X, an alpha (α) will appear in
your document. Thus, you can type simple trigonometric expressions, such as
sin θ, as ordinary text in Word. In addition to the Greek letters, you can
also find other symbols that you may need in the Symbol dialog box.

However, for more complex expressions you will need to use Word's Equation
Editor. In Word 2007, press Alt+= to lauch the Equation Editor. In Word 2003,
on the Insert menu, click Object, and then on the Create New tab, in the
Object type box, click Microsoft Equation 3.0.
