Word and Memory usage

I actually turned off autorecover for this project and I still have the missing cursor problem. Watching the Windows Task Manager box in my task bar shows an immediate slow down when it jumps to 100% (all green) about every 10 minutes for 4-5 minutes duration. Mmm, then something else is running... If you start Word in Safe Mode (hold down ctrl when starting it), do you still see the same? How about starting Windows in Safe Mode?
