Default The fill-in's on a locked Word template already have text in them

I have a locked word template that I am opening. The form has fill-in's that
I choose what to enter, yet, when I open a template the fill-in's have
symbols or wierd text in them already. What am I doing wrong, these are
simple word templates?

Most likely what you are seeing is the form field code. Close the document,
press Alt+F9 to toggle the display of fields from codes to results, then
create a new document based on the template.
