Word 2003 date help
In Word 2003 I opened a letter I had typed a few years ago and noticed that
the date on it had changed to today's date. I opened a few other letters and the same thing happened yet on the fourth letter it did not change to date and it did indeed show the date that I had originally typed in. Why would that happed? Would this be due to how the date was entered in the first place? Either by the "Insert Date" from the menu or by just typing it in? Is there a setting somewhere that cause it to update the date? I would like for it not to automatically update and leave the date alone as originally entered. TIA |

Word 2003 date help
G'Day Dot,
If you type in the date then, of course, it will not change. If you InsertDate then... see Suzanne's article: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/TblsFldsFms/DateFields.htm for the full works! -- Regards, Pat Garard Melbourne, Australia _______________________ "dotcom" wrote in message ... Word 2003 date help
You are using a DATE or TIME field rather than a CREATEDATE field. This
field should be put in the original template if possible (instead of inserting using the keyboard shortcut or header/footer toolbar button). In the document in question, press Alt-F9 to display field codes. Then change the field to a CREATEDATE field, press F9 and then Alt-F9. See http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm for information on the different kinds of datefields and how to format them. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
