Direct Printing on Divider Paper
I'm trying to print directly on to the tab. Any ideas?

Direct Printing on Divider Paper
If your printer can handle the larger paper size, then create a document to
the width of the paper plus tab and put a borderless text box where the tab should be, put your text in the box and rotate it. I would imagine that it will be quite fiddly to get it right and there's a good change the printer will chew up the tab. As previously mentioned, your printer must be able to handle the "oversize"
stock. If it does, you may find you have to rotate your print image by 180 deg. as usually the printer will take the divider "backwards", i.e. the non-tabbed side first. To get you started, go to the Avery or MS websites as they have pre-setup templates for the various types of dividers, just download the one you want, i.e. the stock size, say Oversize A4, and what design of tabs, say 1-5 tabs, and off you go. blank 1-5 and 1-10 on Oversize A4, these are not from Avery as the Avery stock tend to have their logo and coding on and I want to print full page as well as on the tab. But I used the templates from their website to get a good starting point for my templates, I only needed a slight adjustment to the text boxes ovee the "tabs" to get a good result. The stock is presented to my printer; a Xerox 7235 which is getting old now :-( ; via the manual feed long edge without tabs first and I rotate the print image by 180 deg. and this works very well. Direct Printing on Divider Paper
Okay, I did NOT make this up. My husband just came in and asked whether I
had any unused dividers. In scrounging around for some I ran across an unopened package (I don't think I bought them--I think I got them as part of some promotion) of Avery 11526 Direct Print Custom Dividers 5 Tabs. It's not the tabs that fold in and out but the part of the divider (Mylar-reinforced) in which the holes are punched. Someone has even posted a template for these at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...129551033.aspx They're in a catalog at http://alleghenyoffice.com/pages/219.htm, but the fact that Google doesn't come up with a direct Avery link suggests that they may have been discontinued. They come with a CD of formatting software and 200 clip art images, so I guess I ought to open the package and at least retrieve the CD. -- Suzanne S.
