Thumbs up Answer: How to i make a template w/auto fill?

Creating a Template with Auto-Fill in Microsoft Word
  1. Open a new document in Microsoft Word.
  2. Create the template for your memorandum, including any text, formatting, and placeholders for the information that needs to be auto-filled.
  3. To create a placeholder for the information that needs to be auto-filled, place your cursor where you want the information to appear and then click on the Insert tab in the ribbon.
  4. Click on the Quick Parts dropdown menu and select Field.
  5. In the Field dialog box, select MergeField from the list of field names.
  6. In the Field name box, type in a name for your placeholder (e.g. "To", "From", "Date", etc.) and click OK.
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 for each placeholder you want to create.
  8. Save your template by clicking on File in the ribbon and selecting Save As.
  9. In the Save As dialog box, select Word Template from the Save as type dropdown menu.
  10. Give your template a name and click Save.

Using the Template to Create a Memorandum with Auto-Fill
  1. Open your template by clicking on File in the ribbon and selecting New.
  2. Select Personal from the list of templates and click on your template to open it.
  3. When you open the template, you will see that the placeholders you created are now highlighted in gray.
  4. Click on the first placeholder and type in the information that needs to be auto-filled.
  5. Repeat step 4 for each placeholder in the document.
  6. When you have filled in all of the placeholders, save your memorandum by clicking on File in the ribbon and selecting Save As.
  7. Give your memorandum a name and click Save.
