Default Converting Word Perfect for DOS to Word - by each generation or quantumleap?

I have to convert a lot of WP docs for DOS to Word and was wondering if
it is easier to convert to an earlier generation of Word than all the
way forward to Word 2003?

Oh, how do I do this by the way? I have inherited an organization that
is operating in the dark ages and I am upgrading everyone to Office Pro
2003 but there is this one group that is still using WP for DOS and I
barely remember DOS and its commands.
