Mail Merge with Act
I am using ACT Build 5.0.4.507 and just purchased a computer with Word 2003
on it. In Act Preferences, there are only two choices for the default word processor -- the Act word processor (awful!) or "Microsoft 97-200 or XP".I selected the only appropriate choice (Microsoft XP), but when I try to print a document from Act to Word, I get an error message, then another message that says "failed to connect to word processor: Microsoft Word 97- 200 or XP". When I click "OK" on that error message, I get another screen that says "The word processor driver is not running." Can anyone unboggle this mess for me? Thanks in advance, Perri |

Hi Perri,
It's a limitation of the Act! 2000 (v5) .DOT template macros. It was largely written for use with MS Word v6 and had been patched over time by Best/Act, but they didn't rework v5 after the Word 2002 version as they had Act!v6 out. http://itdomino.act.com/act.nsf/docid/200132293717 You'll need to use Act! 2005 (v7) - pretty much a new, slower, product but with some nice features; http://www.act.com/docs/pop/feature_list.htm including a better internal wordprocessor; choose the Act! Word Processor in v5, rather than use Word or modify their macros to work with Word 2003. Act v6 (2004), similar to Act!2000 v5, will work with Word 2003 if you download the hotfix from the Act! site. =========== "Perri Morgan" wrote in message . .. I'd hoped to avoid being forced to upgrade my Act, as I've just been socked with the costs of purchasing new computer equipment and a couple of other programs, and I'm just about busted. I found a bunch of registry tweaks on the Word MVP site and went through them all, but none of them fixed the problem. Thanks anyway. Perri |

G'day, I was looking for other downloads and was aware of an office (word)
2003 fix for act6. You can find it at http://itdomino.act.com/act.nsf/docid/2003930105054 To access the link, I believe you have to be a registered user, but it will solve your problem in about 5 minutes. Best of luck. Hi Zorro,
The hotfix was mentioned in the prior post. Unfortuanately the version in use is Act!2000 (v5) and there wasn't a hotfix available for that version of Act to use with Word 2003. ====== "Zorro67" wrote in message ...
