Word Docs slow to open
I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem or an Office problem...
Starting just a few days ago, all of a sudden it's started taking 1 to 2 minutes for MS-Word to open a document when I double click on the document itself. It makes no difference if Word is already open or not. If I open a document from within Word using the Open menu, the document opens quickly. Also, if I click on a link from with in an e-mail in Outlook, it also takes 1 to 2 minutes for that page to open in IE. I never had this problem before and I can't figure out what changed to cause this. Any ideas and possible solutions? I appreciate any help in advance. -- Harry |

Word Docs slow to open
Thanks. I checked out the link you gave me and tried all of the suggestions
listed there, but they didn't solve my problem. When I open Word from the Start Menu, it opens instantly. And if I open a doc file from the Open menu within Word, the file opens instantly. It's only when I click on a doc file outside of Word (either from Outlook, or a doc file anywhere else) that it takes up to 2 minutes to open. It makes no difference whether another instance of Word is already open or not. I have exactly the same problem with Excel worksheets and web links. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated. -- Harry "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm -- Suzanne S. This problem can also be caused by ACT!8. The preload setting needs to be
changed from -stayrunning to -preload in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run |
