How do I keep the merge fields from being truncated? So far, it only allows
six characters. I widened the Excel column, but it was already wide enough
for all of the records' entries to be visible.

I assume that it is in the document that you are merging to that they are
being truncated. Where do you have the mergefields? Are they inside the
cells of a table with fixed cell dimensions?

The mergefields are in an Excel spreadsheet, but I don't know that the cell
dimentions are fixed. You can see the whole word in the spreadsheet. How
can you tell if they are fixed and un-fix them?

Where are the fields in the Word document? Are they inside the cells of a
table IN THE WORD DOCUMENT?

Yes, the data is truncated in the Word document, but not in a table. They
are in a text box ... uh, okay, I'm really embarrassed. Now that it's
morning and my head is on straight, I can see that two of the names in the
data for these fields are really unusual and just appear to be truncated.
Another name is actually misspelled, truncated by a typo. If you're
interested, they were "Meier, Bragn, and Wilbor." They just happened to be
the second, third and fourth entries which display one page at a time. The
other entries are all very short names to begin with. For kicks, I entered
"orville arnold knodle the third" as a first name and "icabod lip****z" as a
last name. It displayed beautifully. Thank you for your help. Actually,
your questions about tables knocked out a lot of other questions in my mind
as to why this seemed wrong, so I started thinking in another direction--the
data. Great job!
