Default why are some headings in table of contents formatted incorrectly?

I have created a table of contents in word. However despite re applying the
styles I choose to items in the texts, some of the captions in the table of
contents are not formating as expected eg. indented differently? PLease help!

By default, the indents in a table of contents are different for different
TOC levels. Assuming that your TOC was based on styles, did you apply the
appropriate styles to text?
