How do I make a chronological list of style headings?
Hi Brian-
Is what you want something like this: 1.01 Policy A.........................1,15,303 1.02 Policy B..........................7,204,515 1.03 Policy C..........................101,319,447 2.01 Poilcy D..........................28,115,603 If so, I believe you might simply need to generate an Index. The formatting of the Index is also something over which you have control... The entries in the Index need not be formatted as they are in the doc. HTH |:) "Brian" wrote: Hello. I'm hoping you can assist me with a question. Here's a hypothetical to illustrate it. I have a document, about 750 pages, that lists company policies by chapter topics. Each policy is listed like so: Chapter 1: Dress Code and Etiquette 1.01 Dress Code [policy explained here] 1.02 Etiquette [policy explained here] 2.06 Penalty for violating section 1 policies [policy explained here] ...etc. Each of the above policy titles is marked as Style Heading 2 and Chapters are Style Heading 1. The Chapters list various policies pertaining to the chapter topic so they jump around in number. I would like to have a list at the end of the document that lists all the policies by number only, with the page number and in chronological order. Doing this manually would be a chore because I have hundreds of policies. And the whole point of the list is to have them in chronological order, not the order they appear in the text. Finally, I would prefer to not have the rest of the text marked as Style Heading 2 in the policy titles included in the list. Ideas? |
