Word 2007 mailmerge use Excel template as datasource
L.s,
For mailmerge in Word 2007 i want to use data from Excel template (list with clients wich wil be modified daily). It works fine when the data is in a normal Excel file. For some reasons I want the Excel file to be a template (manny people must easy open and look in the Excel file, one person modyfies the list). When I want to choose the datasource, templates are not in the list, when I choose "all files" and choose the template, a error will come up "unable to open file". Does anyone know a way to use a Excel template as datasource. Manny thanks Peter |

Word 2007 mailmerge use Excel template as datasource
Thanks for your respons
This could be a solution but then no one can change the data. I now have saved it with a password so people get the question "password or read only" But whit other sheets like this I made it a template. Normal users get a link to it, when this is used they get a copy (normal sheet) off the document wich can be saved, mess with and so on. For the person who needs to update the template I use A link wit excel.exe en the template name as target. This link opens the template for changing. This works easy clean and protects the data from accidental changing. While people are used with this I want the same routine for de datasource file. But maybe i'm to much a perfectionist. I think i need to explane the differint procedures for the different files.
