Default F3 shortcut key does not trigger autotext

F3 doesn't trigger autotext for me in Word 2007. I've made sure to spell the
autotext entry correctly. The F3 key is working correctly. But nothing
happens when I press the key.

Any suggestions?

Is the AutoText entry name unique? Or have you typed enough of it to
distinguish it from other entries with similar names?

My entry name is unique. I typed all of the entry name, then press F3;
nothing happens. Don't know if it's related, but I also discovered that the
shortcut for cycling through CAP options (Shift/F3) isn't working either.

Go to the keyboard shortcut dialog (in Word 2003 and earlier, it's Tools
Customize Keyboard; in Word 2007, Office button Customize Keyboard) and
check that the assignments are still there. Select the All Commands category and
then select

InsertAutoText - F3
ChangeCase - Shift+F3
Spike - Ctrl+F3
InsertSpike - Ctrl+Shift+F3

If the shortcuts are defined but don't work, try borrowing some else's keyboard
-- maybe the F3 key on yours is broken.

If the shortcuts aren't defined, put the cursor in the "Press new shortcut" box,
type the shortcut, and click the Assign button.

Mystery solved. The problem was that when I recently reformatted my hard
drive, I did not reinstall the driver for my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic
keyboard. I've just done that and now the F3 key and autotext entries are
fully functional.

Thanks for posting back. I'll add that one to the bag of tricks.
