Recent Security Update for WORD 2000
MS recently issued a security update for WORD-2000.
The update was downloaded. The installation process required installing the CD for €śOFFICE 2000 SR-1 Premium€ť. My CD is marked €śOFFICE 2000 Premium€ť. I got the error message: €śOFFICE 2000 Premium is not a valid package€ť. I tried the suggested option of downloading a larger update package that might not require a CD. This option still required the above CD and thus failed. How can I install the security update for WORD 2000? My system: WINDOWS 2000 PRO, Version 5.0, SP-4. WORD 2000 9.0 SP-3, SR-1a installed. Thank you for your help |

Hi ATK-31.,
When the Office 2000 SR1 or SR1a update is installed then the MS Installer 'sees' that as being the same as having the Office 2000 SR1 copy of the CD. (Check the listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel). You may want to try a repair/reinstall of Office to see if that succeeds. You can get the error from a corrupted Office installation, outdated or corrupted MS Installer or the installer finding a Setup.exe other than the one on the CD. ====== "ATK31" wrote in message ... Dear Mr. Buckland,
One can always format the hard disc, re-install the software and see what happens. Microsoft probably assumes that its clients do not have to work and have nothing better to do than to experiment with faulty software. How about providing RELIABLE SOFTWARE and security updates that can be readily installed? |
