Default In Word. I highlight a section, hit backspace, doesn't delete

If you highlight a selection in Word and then hit backspace, it should delete
tthe selection. This no longer happens on one of my PC's. I've clearly
changed something - I just don't know what.

Hi ?B?SWFuIE5lbGRlcg==?=,

If you highlight a selection in Word and then hit backspace, it should delete
tthe selection. This no longer happens on one of my PC's. I've clearly
changed something - I just don't know what.

If Track Changes is turned on, that will lock out this keyboard shortcut. Could
that be what's happening?

Thanks for trying. Unfortunately this didn't sort the problem. My son has
now discovered what the problem was:

Tools
Options
Edit tab
and ensure 'Typing replaces selection' is checked

Tools | Options | Edit: Check "Typing replaces selection." Word considers
backspacing "typing." For more, see
